Mrs. Lynde says, ‘Blessed are they who expect nothing for they shall not be disappointed.’ But I think it would be worse to expect nothing than to be disappointed.

Oh, Marilla, aspettare con ansia le cose è metà del loro piacere. Magari non ottieni quelle cose; ma niente può impedirti di provare il piacere di aspettarle. La signora Lynde dice: “Beati coloro che non si aspettano nulla, perché non saranno delusi”. Ma io penso che sarebbe peggio non aspettarsi nulla che essere delusi.
