The Rime of the Ancient Mariner

At lenght did cross an Albatross,
Thorough the fog it came […].

Alla fine ci incrociò un albatros,
Arrivò attraverso la nebbia […].

It is an ancient Mariner,
And he stoppeth one of three.
«By thy long grey beard and glittering eye,
Now wherefore stopp’st thou me? […]»

È un vecchio marinaio
e ferma uno dei tre.
«Per la tua lunga barba grigia e i tuoi occhi brillanti,
Perché osi fermarmi? […]»

[incipit]

FIRST VOICE
«But why drives on that ship so fast,
Without or wave or wind?»
SECOND VOICE
«The air is cut away before,
And closes from behind.

PRIMA VOCE
«Ma come può andare così veloce quella nave,
Senza vento né corrente?»
SECONDA VOCE
«L’aria le si apre davanti,
E le si richiude subito dietro.

He prayeth well, who loveth well
Both man and bird and beast.
He prayeth best, who loveth best
All things both great and small.

Prega bene chi ama bene
Uomini, uccelli e animali.
Prega meglio chi ama meglio
Tutte le creature, le grandi e le piccole.
